In the second quarter of this year both the Stores were analysed by the standard in app analytics, App Annie. The Apple App Store recorded 70% more revenue than the Google Play Store. There’s lot more improvement needed in the Android Monetization program. There are lot more reasons behind the low revenue from Android Ecosystem. App Annie cites the abundance of cheaper Android phones and the success of the platform in emerging markets as one of the reasons for the difference between Android downloads, and the revenue generated by them.

Most downloads for the Google Play Store comes from the U.S., Brazil, India, Russia and Mexico. On the other side, Apple App Store China, the U.S. are the top two countries for App Store downloads. Japan, the U.K. and Russia are the next three.
