HTC One M8 vs Samsung Galaxy S5: Match Of The Mighties

We have two great smartphone up for a comparison today, the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8. Let us find out what all pros and cons they have on each other, in this short comparison article.

Design and Display:

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 8.1 mm body whereas the HTC One M8 is 9.4 mm thick. The Galaxy S5 is comparatively slimmer than the HTC One M8. Also apart from being slimmer, the Galaxy S5 is also lighter than the M8. Galaxy S5 weighs about 145 grams whereas the M8 weighs about 160 grams. Coming to the display both have quite similar displays. The Galaxy S5 has 5.1 inches of display with a resolution of 1080X1920 pixels, with a pixel density of 432 ppi. One the other hand the M8 has 5.0 inches of display with a resolution of 1080X1920 pixels, with a pixel density of 441 ppi. So here the Galaxy S5 wins with it’s slimness and lightness.

Memory and Connectivity:

The Galaxy S5 comes with 16/32 GB of internal memory, and same is the case with HTC M8. ALso both the phone have an otption to expand their memory with the means of a SD card upto 128 GB. Also both have the same RAM, i.e. 2 GB. So they are quite similar in case of memory and RAM.

Coming to the connectivity, the Galaxy S5 has HSDPA, 42.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps: LTE, Cat, 50 Mbps UL, and 150 Mps DL. Whereas M8 has HSDPA, 42 Mbps (21 Mbps -AT&T), HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps: LTE, Cat, 50 Mbps UL, and 150 Mps DL, which agains set them to similar positions. Coming to the Wi-Fi, the Galaxy S5 has Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, DLNA, Wifi Direct, Wifi Hotspot, while the M8 has Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, DLNA, Wifi Direct, Wifi Hotspot. The Galaxy S5 has microUSB 3.0 while the M8 has microUSB 2.0.

So again they are pretty close on the connectivity, but still the Galaxy S5 manages to sneak out and win with a slight margin, atleast on the paper.

Camera:

The Camera of the two devices could make an difference. The Galaxy S5 has 16 megapixel camera on tha beck with a capturing resolution of 5312X2988 pixels. While the M8 has Dual 4 Megapixel camera, with can capture at resolution of 2688X1520 pixels. Both have similar features. The S5 can record videos at 2160p@30 fps, 1080p@60 fps while the M8 can capture 1080p@30fps, and 720p@60 fps. Galaxy S5 has a secondary camera of 2 Megapixels, and M8 has secondary camera of about 5 megapixels. Both have similar recording capabilities. But considering the fact that the M8 has a better cameras as they are using Duo Camera technologies which can emphasize on focus (more about Duo Camera is described here), while the S5 has better video recording capabilities. it is upto you, what you decide. Processor and OS:

The Galaxy S5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with Quad core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 pocessor. while the M8 has Snapdragon 801 chipset with Quad Core 2.3 GHz ( USA) and 2.5 GHz (Asia) Krait processor.Both have the same Adreno 330 GPU, and both run on the same Android 4.2.2 KitKat OS. So yet again this time, it is a draw between both the flagships.

Battery:

Battery is also an important part, when we compare devices. What will all that hardware and display do if you haven;t got the juice in the battery? The S5 has Li-ion 2800 mAh battery, while the M8 has Li-Po 2600 mAh, The Galaxy S5 has a standby time of 390 hourse, while the M8 has a standy time of 271 hours on 2G, and 496 hours on 3G network. S5 has talk time of 21 hours, while the M8 has  20 Hours. So here S5 manages to sneak out again.
