Samsung has achieved one more milestone today as they overtakes Nokia To Become  Top Mobile Phone Brand of 2012. This is the first time in span of 14 yrs that Nokia is dethroned by any company.

In first quarter of this year Samsung shipped 93.5 million units (accounting for 29% of worldwide cellphone shipments this year) compared to 83 million ( dropped shipments to 24% from 30% last year) of Nokia for the first quarter of this year.

Mr Alex Spektor, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics, said, “Five years after it captured the number-two spot from Motorola, Samsung has finally become the world’s largest handset vendor in volume terms.”

Wayne Lam, senior analyst for wireless communications at IHS said Nokia is “mired in transitioning its smartphone line to the Windows operating system,” resulting in declining shipments for the company.

Coming onto smartphones market, Samsung is also at top of all other companies. Currently Samsung has not disclosed any official figures yet some industry analysts say that the company has shipped 44.5 million smartphones in the first three months of this year compared to Apple’s 35.1 million. Earlier Samsung is also announced as top smartphone manufacture in month of march this year.

Samsung and Apple accounts for half of smartphones sales globally.
