List of devices supporting Jio Rich Communication Service in India

Rich Communication Service (RCS) is yet to harness the popularity it deserves. Maybe it’s to do something with the limited availability of the service. In India, only Reliance Jio provides RCS facility for its customers. Since the RCS requires both device and operator to support it, not every Jio customers can make use of it. However, Jio with its Jio4GVoice app has bid the gap between those devices which supports RCS out-of-the-box and which don’t.

Well, it’s always good to have support within the system than going for another app which is available on Google Play Store to download. As such there are few handsets mainly from Google and Samsung which can utilize RCS without the need of Jio4GVoice app, thanks to their advanced stock messaging and calling app.

Here, we’ll be listing the devices from Samsung and Google which can send/receive the RCS messages/calls using their stock message/phone app itself.  Have a look at them.

Note that, the list can expand as other OEMs too include RCS on their stock apps. In the case of Samsung, we’re unable to list all the device because of Samsung unfathomable number of devices and variants. You may check whether your Samsung device support RCS, by searching for the option called advanced messaging and calling option on Settings. If it exists then your device is RCS compatible on-the-go. Or else, you may go through our article discussing RCS on Samsung devices.

Well, RCS – in case if you don’t know, is a progressing communication protocol between mobile-telephone carriers and between phone and carrier, aiming at replacing SMS/MMS messages with a text-message system that is richer, provides phone book polling (for service discovery), and can transmit in-call multimedia. It is also marketed as Advanced Messaging, Advanced Communications, SMS enhanced and so on.

Simply, with RCS you can send files, GIFs and other media between your contacts similar to another instant messenger such as Telegram and WhatsApp. We’re able to send PDF’s, GIFs on Jio network with supported Samsung devices with much ease and secure. So. it’s obvious that the service is promising and the future of mobile communication. Perhaps, may even be a threat to third-party messenger such as WhatsApp.

Moreover, RCS is not just limited to messaging. While in call also RCS kicks-in with additional on-call features such as real-time location sharing, important call indicator and so on between supported devices and network. All in all the potential of RCS is great and futuristic.

Although the above list is small featuring only Samsung and Google devices, it’s no that other devices cannot utilize Jio RCS. As mentioned earlier, unsupported devices can download and install Jio4GVoice app in order to communicate via RCS.
