Defying the usual trend, Google has released the Android 11 Developer Preview a bit earlier this year. The Android 11 features various new enhancements and feature upgrades. Google has added improved privacy and security features in Android 11. The same build was seen on Pixel 4 via Geekbench a few days ago.
The search giant has added various new features including the support for new displays, 5G connectivity and on-device machine learning APIs. The ultimate aim is to provide support for innovative features including camera improvements. Android 11 is a step ahead for AI-based features like call-screening, camera improvements, and voice assistants.
There will be a better pinhole camera and waterfall display support. The developers can easily extend support for technologies such as 5G, foldable display, and AI. Several new APIs such as Dynamic meteredness, Neural Networks API and Bandwidth estimator are part of the parcel to boost the connectivity and improve the voice and data quality.
Talking about the Android 11, Google said in a blogpost that “with Android 11 we’re keeping our focus on helping users take advantage of the latest innovations while continuing to keep privacy and security a top priority. We’ve added multiple new features to help users manage access to sensitive data and files, and we’ve hardened critical areas of the platform to keep the OS resilient and secure. For developers, Android 11 has a ton of new capabilities for your apps, like enhancements for foldables and 5G, call-screening APIs, new media and camera capabilities, machine learning, and more.”

Android 11 Developer Preview is available for Pixel 2, Pixel 2XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3A, Pixel 3A XL, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. The users can manually flash the new Android 11 Developer Preview after downloading the system images from Google’s official website. It is only recommended for developers as it will carry some bugs.
The new Android 11 will go official at the I/O developer conference in May.
