Android Oreo update rolling out to Samsung Galaxy A8/A8+ in multiple regions

Samsung has somehow managed to roll-out the coveted Android Oreo update to its all most all flagships and some mid-rangers belonging to A and C-Series, at least in one region. However, the Galaxy A8/A8+ – being the second most eligible candidates following the S-Series were kept away from the latest Android flavor all these while. The fact that there predecessors received the update much earlier was indigestible for some. Nonetheless, Samsung has finally started seeding the Android Oreo update for the premium A duo.

The Over-The-Air update seems to be airing in multiple regions including Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan & Ukraine. The firmware builds for the A8 and A8+ in the above regions bear baseband versions: A530FXXU2BRG1 and A730FXXU2BRG1 respectively.  Along with the brand new Samsung Experience 9.0 based on Android Oreo 8.0, the updates do bring the latest July security patch as well. Literally making the devices as the early achievers of July SMR among Samsung devices.

Apart from the above major aspects, the A8 and A8+ now support dual active VoLTE, i.e VoLTE can be enabled on both SIM slots all at a time. Moreover, seems the devices have received the Dolby Atmos feature as well as per the User Manual available on Samsung website. However, the changelog of update mentioned nothing about the addition of Dolby Atmos.

That said, if you belong to any of the aforementioned regions and haven’t updated to the Android Oreo yet. It’s time to hit the software update section and search for the update manually.
