Android TV: A Guide To Better Experience On TVs

Android TV is the much rumored terms of the last few months and we can say last year also. We were ready to hear about it at the Google IO 2014 developer conference  and yes Google has showed and previewed its Android TV.

What is Android TV?

Android TV replaces Google TV. Google launched Google TV to great fanfare in 2010. Google TV was focused on simply porting the best TV content on the web into your TV.

Android TV is refreshed version of Android OS for better Television experience with lots of Android features embedded in it. Android TV is based on the new Android L operating system, which comes with the updated look and feel of Google’s new Material Design, as well as many familiar Google apps, like the Play Store. Android TV, which launches officially later this year and will hit TVs from the likes of Sony next year. It’s Android — on your TV. At Google I/O today, We saw a demo of the new platform running off a small box that looks like an Amazon Fire TV.

When Android TV is coming?

Google is working with hardware OEMs like Sony and Sharp to design TVs slated for 2015, and Razer and Asus to develop the set-top boxes with a focus on gaming. The 2015 line of HD and 4K televisions from Sony, Sharp and TP Vision will make use of Android TV.
