Confirmed: Xiaomi to launch two Android One smartphones this year

Last year, Xiaomi surprised everyone with their first Android One smartphone. The company has never ever launched a phone without their MIUI software. Thus, the so-called Mi A1 laid a foundation for stock Android smartphones from Xiaomi. And now, findings by XDA Developers have confirmed the presence of not one but two new Android One Xiaomi smartphones for this year.

As Xiaomi’s Mi 6X smartphone started leaking a few weeks back, everyone was excited. But, not for the Mi 6X but its unconfirmed Android One rebranded version. Because last year’s Mi 5X was indeed the Android One Mi A1. However, there is still no concrete proof that the Mi 6X will be the successor of Mi A1.

However, folks at XDA Developers were able to get hands on a partial system dump of the two upcoming Android One smartphones from Xiaomi. The first one is codenamed “jasmine_sprout” and it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. And it will feature the same cameras as on Mi 6X. Thus, chances are high that the Mi 6X will be the Mi A2 or whatever it will be called.

Further, the second one is codenamed “daisy_sprout” and it will feature the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 as found on Mi A1, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5 and the upcoming Redmi S2. This Android One device will likely be the rebranded version of the Redmi S2 which is yet to launch. Also, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun himself confirmed that they will be introducing a Redmi Android One device later this year.
