Face Unlock will come to the OnePlus 5 with Oreo update

Last week, OnePlus announced their new flagship, OnePlus 5T with some improved hardware. The major change when comparing to the OnePlus 5 is the new 18:9 bezel less display. As the front is fully occupied the display, OnePlus changed the position of the fingerprint sensor to the back. Hence, to unlock the phone conveniently, the device also comes with face unlock. And now, it seems that it will not be exclusive to 5T as the feature will come to the OP5 with the Oreo update.

Recently, a user got access to the internal Android Oreo Beta 2 update. According to him, this update brings redesigned notification panel, picture in picture mode, new interface for both camera and gallery apps and surprisingly face unlock to the OnePlus 5. Other Oreo features include adaptive icons, autofill, notification timeout and several new additions to the OxygenOS.

It is nice to see the face unlock feature in the OnePlus 5 as its performance was praised by many tech reviewers on the OnePlus 5T. But, we will have to wait till the stable update to know how it performs on the OP5.

On the other hand, OnePlus 3 and 3T is already receiving the stable Oreo update across the world. OnePlus also announced that OnePlus 5 will get the open Oreo beta update soon. So, if you are an OnePlus 5 user, all you can do for now is to have patience. What are your thoughts on OnePlus’ face unlock? Let us know in the comment section below.
