First-ever Sony Xperia 3 render reveals side-mounted fingerprint sensor

Sony is not known for their smartphones these days but still, the company releases confusing flagship smartphones every now and then. Earlier this year, the Japanese brand launched Xperia 1 with 4K display as its premium phone and it did not do well as it lacked in many departments. Even though, they seem to be working on its successor named Xperia 3 possibly skipping Xperia 2 altogether. The said phone’s render just surfaced on the web revealing a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

This is not the first time we are hearing about the Sony Xperia 3. The phone has been already leaked and rumoured earlier but we never got to see the design of the phone until now. As per the leaked renders attached above, the device will sport a metal frame like most smartphones these days. The first render showcases the right side of the pone with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor placed at the dead centre for perfect symmetry. Whereas the second render displays a revamped camera interface with not much to perceive due to low quality.

Previous rumours and leaks suggested the Xperia 3 will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which is expected to be announced in December. One of the leaks also revealed their codenames as Kona and Huracan with only difference between two models being support for 5G.

The Sony Xperia 3 will likely make its debut in February at MWC 2020 in Barcelona, Spain.
