Galaxy J5 Prime receiving Android Nougat in the UAE via OTA

The budget-friendly Galaxy J5 Prime launched in September 2016 is next on Samsung checklist of Nougat updates. With a number of mid-range phones getting the update last month, it is only rightful to roll it out to the one-year-old phone. The Galaxy J5 Prime shipped with Android Marshmallow, and this is its first jump after release.

The OTA update we have encountered is the Galaxy J5 Prime (SM-G570F) variant. It weighs a hefty 1 GB as expected. However, the firmware comes with the August security patch, and we don’t know whether the Blueborne fix is included in it or not. Although there is an app for that. After you install the OTA, you can just run this app and see if the issue is still there.

The update is now hitting the UAE, although feel free to let us know if any of you guys outside of India have seen an OTA. Android Nougat features are now too mainstream to list here. But it does come with Multi-window, better notification system, quick reply, Doze mode and much more. More worth mentioning is the Samsung Experience UX that hasn’t even rolled out to the Galaxy S8. Ironic, isn’t it. Let us know how the update goes. Remember to check storage space, backup your data, and charge your device to at least 50% before hitting the update button.
