Ever since Samsung pushed the Android Oreo 8.1 update to Galaxy J5 Prime couple of weeks or so ago. The users of its larger sibling – the Galaxy J7 Prime were impatiently waiting for the same to hit their device. Now, it seems to see a happy ending as the Android Oreo 8.1 based on Samsung Experience 9.5 is here for the Galaxy J7 Prime, at least in India if not globally available as of now.
The OTA update weighs in at over 975 MB in size with the version number G610FDDU1CRI4. Literally, the update marks the second major update or in fact the final one, alike the case with the Galaxy J5 Prime.
Nonetheless, given the poor track record of Samsung in seeding major updates to its devices especially the budget offerings. Reception of two major updates by J-Series devices is something truly remarkable and a rarity.
The Android Oreo 8.1 update for the Galaxy J7 Prime brings bunch of improvements and new features. Native PiP support, refreshed Samsung Experience launcher, an overhauled Samsung Keyboard and much more are on the table. Samsung has also been generop000us to upgrade the security patch level to the latest September SMR.
Needless to say, the OTA update being rolled-out in phases, it might not be available on every Galaxy J7 Prime units in India as of now. It’d take a week or sometimes a month for the update to finish its cycle completely. So if not available no need to panic and wait for it.
