Google Assistant now supports Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu

Earlier this year, Google said that more regions, as well as languages, will be supported by the Assistant and Home devices. Since then, the internet giant has been adding new regions and languages as promised. Recently, Google added Indian languages such as Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu for Assistant. Whereas the home devices received support for Brazilian and Portuguese.

India is a rare country with 22 official languages. Google already supports most used Indian languages in a number of their products including Search and Translate. But, that’s not the case with the Google Assistant. Back in March, Hindi was made available for the Assistant followed by Home in October. And now, Google adds four more Indian languages to Assistant which includes Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu. But, none of these languages is yet supported on Home devices.

As for other regions, the Google Home now gains support for Brazilian and Portuguese. These two languages are already available on the Assistant for some time now. Anyways, though you select the above-mentioned new languages, the app will show a ‘Beta‘ warning. Which clearly says that Assistant is still learning to use these languages and will better over time.

If you are from the above-mentioned regions, then do try and let us know about your experience in the comment section below.
