A new update rolling out to the Play Store has brought a “Try It” feature on Instant Apps to the online app marketplace. You would be forgiven to not know much about Instant Apps since it is still in its nascent stage. The idea has been around since last year. But it was at Google I/O 2017 that doors were opened to all devs to implement it.
There are just a handful of apps that support the feature so it is likely that you won’t come across it. Those are These include Sky Scanner, NYTimes Crossword, BuzzFeed, Onefootball Live, Red Bull TV and Share the Meal. So when you look for these apps, you can try their instant version before installing them.
Apart from that, the update also comes with a reorganised Editor’s Choice section. However, it is available in 17 countries only. The Games section will also be given a new layout. It will be showing trailers and screenshots on the homepage. There will be two new sub-categories under it. Paid games will be under “Premium”, and upcoming games under “New”. Google is also set to bring a “Pre-Registration Games” feature on the Play Store along with “live operations”. This feature will notify users of in-game events that are taking place.
