HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia-branded Android smartphones is set to hold an event in India on December 10. The star of the show could be Nokia 8.1, also known as the Nokia X7 in China. Who knows, the device might also end up being called Nokia 7.1 Plus like any other X series phones before.

Just today, the Finnish smartphone maker launched the Nokia 7.1 in India, a month after its release in Western markets. The specifications of this device are almost similar to that of Nokia 6.1 Plus, except for the HDR display and better cameras. The price starts at INR 19,999 and it will be available offline as well as online, unlike the 6.1 Plus which is an online exclusive device priced at INR 15,999.

The forthcoming Nokia 8.1 however, will be definitely priced higher than the two devices mentioned above. Because it will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor and 4GB/6GB RAM. Also, it will come with 12MP primary rear camera with OIS and 13MP telephoto secondary rear shooter. At the front, it sports another 20MP snapper within the notch.

The device will sport a 6.18-inch FHD+ HDR display with 18:9:7 aspect because of the notch. What’s interesting is that it will come with a headphone jack which cannot be said for most phones these days. It will also have a fingerprint sensor like any other phone, support for microSD card, 3,500 mAh battery and will run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.

It is expected that Nokia 8.1 might go official on December 5 in Dubai at first before heading to India on December 10.
