HTC’s flagship device for 2016, HTC 10 along with Motorola’s Verizon exclusive, Droid Turbo 2 has started receiving security updates in the United States. The update for both devices include security patches only and does not bring any other improvements or changes to the Android OS.
While the update for HTC 10 brings security fixes for the month of May, the change-log for Droid Turbo 2 only specifies “most up to date Android security patches.”
The update for HTC 10 arrives as version number 2.48.617.11 and weighs just over 250MB in size while the Droid Turbo 2 is updated with software version number 25.201.6.kinzie_verizon.verizon.en.US.
For both devices, the update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA) and therefore, may take sometime to reach all the users. In the meantime, you may check manually if the update has arrived by heading to the Settings menu on your device. It is highly recommended to install the update as soon as you receive it, since it brings fixes for specific vulnerabilities in the Android operating system.
As a reminder, your smartphone battery should be sufficiently charged to at least 50 percent with access to a stable WiFi connection.
