HTC is going to purchase Graphics company, S3 to make their legal case against Apple more hard and it will help HTC to expand its patent portfolio. After its initial purchase last summer HTC rethinks again and now they finalised the purchase of S3 to strengthen its patents. HTC’s general counsel, Grace Lei, said [quote]“We think S3′s patent portfolio is valid and strong, and we have decided to complete the purchase after cautious assessment.”[/quote].
HTC has set price for the buyout stand that is $300 Million for 270 patents which not a bad deal. It will make HTC to better defend its cases against Apple. HTC is also rumored to make their own graphics chips after buyout which will help their devices manufacturing and development in the future.
