Huawei P40 case leak confirms previously leaked CAD renders

Yesterday, the world got the first glimpse of Huawei P40 and P40 Pro design, thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer AKA @Onleaks. And now, the same design is reiterated in a new case leak on Weibo, further confirming the design of upcoming Huawei premium smartphones. These phones will be no different in terms of camera design when compared to other smartphones that will be launching in 2020.

As usual, Huawei is expected to launch its new P series of smartphones dubbed as P40 and P40 Pro in March 2020. Apart from being the first smartphone to be launched with Huawei Mobile Services, it will be also one of the many smartphones with identical camera array.  After the launch of iPhone X, the Android world was soon filled with devices with different types of notches, punch-holes, pop-ups, and vertical camera alignments. And now, as the newer iPhone 11 series feature a square camera array, all the Android OEMs will soon join(some have already) this bandwagon going by the recent leaks of upcoming smartphones.

The forthcoming Huawei P40 series is no exception either, however, this square(or rectangular) camera array design made its debut on Huawei Mate 20 Pro in 2018. The P40 series, on the other hand, will opt for rectangular or inverted L-shaped camera array according to the case and CAD renders leaks. The regular P40 will feature quad-camera setup as seen on the pictures above, whereas the Pro variant is tipped to come with Penta-camera setup which will include a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12MP periscope telephoto lens, a macro lens and TOF(Time of Flight) sensor.

The Huawei P40 Pro will sport a 6.5 – 6.7 inches curved display and the vanilla P40 will come equipped with a 6.1 or 6.2-inches flat display. Both the models may come with OLED panels with an in-screen fingerprint sensor and will be devoid of 3.5mm headphone jack. These phones will run EMUI based on Android 10 out of the box without Google Mobile Services(GMS).
