How to install Xiaomi Mi A1 ROM on the Mi 5X

When Xiaomi launched its first Android One smartphone, the Mi A1, it was quite obvious that it was a Mi 5X + stock Android combo. The only thing different on the Mi 5X is the MIUI 9 ROM. Well, now a developer has found a way to port the Mi A1 stock ROM on to the Mi 5X. Yes, you read that right. Also, the ROM works perfectly fine. Although there might be minor bugs. But the new ported ROM is good for a daily driver. Also, the ROM runs the latest security patch to top all things. Here we have a guide for users who want to install the ROM on their Mi 5X device.

Note: This ROM is only compatible with Mi5X codenamed tiffany. Other devices won’t work with it. Also, do not attempt to install if you are not sure how to do it. We are not accountable for bricking or data loss of the device.

Prerequisites
1. TWRP. You need to have TWRP pre-installed to do this procedure.
2. Download Ported ROM for Mi 5X
3. Download Android Nougat 7.1 Gapps

How to Install Xiaomi Mi A1 (Android One) ROM on the Mi 5X

1. Transfer the ROM zip file and Gapps that you downloaded to the Xiaomi Mi 5X internal storage.
2.Boot your smartphone into TWRP recovery. Once there, do a factory Reset by swiping on the bottom of the screen. Although do not delete internal storage data.
3.Now head back to the Main Menu. Now tap on install and select the ROM .zip file that you put in the internal storage.
4.Once you have selected the .zip file, swipe on the bottom of the screen where “Confirm Flash” is written. This will begin the install process.
5.After ROM is installed Wipe cache/dalvik option will appear. Select it and swipe on the bottom of the screen.
6.Then do the same procedure with the gapps file you downloaded. This should finish the port. After this restart your phone once. And you are on your way to stock Android with the Mi 5X.
