In 2013, Motorola similarly didn’t provided the update to Moto E first generation device. Today, Motorola updated their Software Update Page with the notification that “This device will remain on Android 6¬†Marshmallow.” Motorola has not provided any specific reason for making Moto E sticked to the Marshmallow.

Motorola may have not rolled the update due to lesser sales then expectations. Guys who owned this 4 month old device can get the Nougat via Custom ROMs on your own risk.
