Motorola Moto E5 leaked render reveals new fingerprint reader placement

Motorola, one of few American smartphone manufacturers currently owned by Lenovo is well known for its stock Android and Moto Mods presently. But, all this popularity begun with the orignal Moto X, G and E series when the company was under Google. Motorola was one of the first OEM to spark the budget segment with their original Moto E. It’s been five years and the fifth iteration of Moto E is about to launch as new render leaks out revealing new design.

The first three generations of Moto E were made up of plastic which was changed to metal last year with Moto E4. Also, for the first time Motorola launched a Moto E smartphone  with Mediatek processor in markets like India. However, the Moto E4 sold in US and other western countries came with Qualcomm processor. But, both the variants came with fingerprint sensor located on the front below the display.

As you can see from the image, the upcoming Moto E5 won’t have fingerprint reader on the front. It is now moved to the back with Motorola Batwing logo embedded on it. In case you do not know, Motorola planned to place the bio metric sensor on the Moto dimple years ago. But, they never did it until now. Which clearly means the Moto G, X and Z series may have same placement as they might feature 18:9 displays.

Also, the Moto logo at the front top as found on Moto E4 is now removed. The branding now sits at place where the fingerprint reader used to but now changed to ‘Motorola’. As for other specifications, there is no much details available yet. Probably, it might again feature a Mediatek processor. Let’s see what Motorola has to offer this year.
