Nintendo Game for Smartphones

Nintendo’s deal with DeNA , a mobile game developer, shocked a lot many people. Nintendo will simply license its content and let DeNA deal with it. Company’s president Satoru Iwata on an interview with TIME when asked about weather Nintendo or DeNA will take over the bulk, Iwata said that:

“Development of smart device games will be mainly done by Nintendo, but it is significant that we are forming a joint development structure with DeNA.”.

Nintendo believes that as compared, DeNA has got much more experience and skill in mobile game development market and is compatible to handle “Service” side while Nintendo can concentrate on game development.

When asked about weather Nintendo will prior free-game or paid-version, company’s president said that:

“Nintendo does not intend to choose payment methods that may hurt Nintendo’s brand image or our IP, which parents feel comfortable letting their children play with. Also, it’s even more important for us to consider how we can get as many people around the world as possible to play Nintendo smart device apps, rather than to consider which payment system will earn the most money.”

As users have moved on from PC and browsers to smart phones, company also needed to make a shift in order to increase and continue with their profit and sales.
