Now WhatsApp users can set colourful text statuses like Facebook

Earlier this month, we saw a beta version of WhatsApp testing the colorful status feature. Now, it’s all out and about in the stable build. The old-style text status feature came back from the dead after WhatsApp introduced Status (another Snapchat Stories clone) to its users. The text-based status was scrapped in favor of photos and videos. However, shortly after it was taken away, WhatsApp suffered a backlash from many users who had grown fond of the simplistic feature

Now, these Status messages are set to displace the old simple text status once again. The feature isn’t anything new, as it is already in use widely on Facebook. Needless to say, WhatsApp users will have to update to the latest version to make use of the feature. Users will be able to customize fonts, add some emojis, background colors and even put links in there.

WhatsApp did allow text on pictures earlier, but this new feature remains exclusive to text. You won’t be able to add photos or videos here. Let us know what you have in mind for the next Status you might want to set on your phone.

You will have to update your app in order to get the latest update.
