Oppo has been on top of the game since it introduced Super VOOC Flash Charge, its proprietary fast-charging solution couple of years ago. The company never looked back and currently leads the market offering SuperVOOC 2.0 that supports 65W fast charging on their flagship devices like Find X2, Find X2 Pro, Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro respectively. Oppo recently took to the Chinese social media website, Weibo that they will introduce 125W fast-charging technology on July 15 at 15:00 local time.
The company may host a press release in China to hold a demonstration of the fastest mobile charging technology to have existed to date. While other Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Vivo are working to bring up to 100W fast-charging, Oppo seems to lead the game in this segment. The company did not reveal how they were able to achieve this insanely fast-charging, and we may get more details once they introduce this new technology on July 15.
With super fast-charging tech racking up, it is expected to adversely affect the battery life in long-run. We are sceptical on what kind of current is being used to charge the smartphone batteries in a very short span of time. New technologies like this need to be tried and tested extensively before rolling out to the general public for their safety and well-being. Therefore, we expect that Oppo is going to introduce the technology but will hold back for internal testing before making it available for commercial devices.
We will keep you posted as and when we know further and get any details about the July 15 event. What do you think about the upcoming super fast-charging technology? Are you ready to experience it on your next smartphone? Do let us know in the comments below.
