Verizon-based Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3, 3 XL, 3a, 3a XL, 4, 4 XL starts receiving July 2020 Security update

Google has reportedly started rolling out the July 2020 Security Patch update for the Verizon network carrier based smartphones. The new updates are gradually rolling out on Pixel 2, 2XL, 3, 3XL, 3a, 3a XL, 4, 4XL devices. A few days back, Verizon based Galaxy and LG devices got the June 2020 Security Patch update.

The update with QQ3A.200605.001 build number is spinning out for Pixel 2, 4. Whereas, the Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, 3 XL, 3a, 3a XL, 4 and 4 XL starts picking the update as the QQ3A.200705.002 Firmware version. The new updates are gradually rolling out to their respective smartphones. As per the update release note, the company has included few App feature changes to all the above-mentioned devices.

The changes include live location sharing for emergency contacts, and starting from this update – Pixel smartphones will now notify you about natural disasters and safety alerts if any in your corresponding location. There’s also an option for Car crash detection, and a few bug fixes are also part and the parcel of the latest update. However, the changelog is the same for all the above-mentioned smartphones as follows:

  • Crisis alerts – Pixel will notify you about natural disasters and safety alerts based on your location

  • Car crash detection now supports Pixel 3 and 4

The update will rollout via OTA to all the devices within a few days. Meanwhile, to check the update manually, head over to Settings>Software updates>Check for updates on your respective device. Before updating, make sure to switch over to a WiFi network to avoid carrier data costs.
