Qualcomm is the leading player in the smartphone processor market. Almost every Android flagship smartphones are powered by their 800 series processors. That said their Snapdragon 835 is a massive hit this year and soon it will be followed by its successor Snapdragon 845.
Reports say that Qualcomm might announce the Snapdragon 845 in November like they did with Snapdragon 835 last year. But, now an invite gets leaked on Weibo regarding the Snapdragon Technology Summit which is to be held between December 4 – 8 in Maui, Hawaii. This might be the event, where the semiconductor giant may unveil their next generation processor – Snapdragon 845 for the flagship smartphones of 2018.
There are reports that the upcoming processor from the company may not be based on 7nm technology. It will be the same 10nm technology like this year’s but with improvements. And even it might not come with AI processing unit similar to Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 and Apple’s A11 bionic. Also rumours say that the first batch of Snapdragon 845 is already reserved by Samsung for their upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus similar to this year’s S8 and S8 Plus.
Will the Qualcomm’s Snagdragon 845 will be better than Apple’s A11 bionic which has dedicated AI processing unit ? Let us wait and see what Qualcomm has to offer for next year’s flagships.
