Qualcomm is pacing up its efforts to get fully 5G compatible chipsets. they have already announced the Snapdragon 855 with the X50 modem which will power the future devices this year. Currently, there’s not even a single device which is available running the Snapdragon 855. Right now, the announced chipset is taking its time to show up in the devices, so we can understand how much we have to wait to see X55 modem working in a live device.
Although, without any rumors or leaks, Qualcomm has finally impressed the audience with a surprising launch of X55 5G modem. Moreover, the new X55 is expected to make a debut in the second half of 2019. There are significant improvements in the new chipset including download speed. The X50 modem chipset can throttle upto 4.5 Gbps but the new X55 modem can boost the download speed upto 7Gbps.

The new modem chipset has surpassed the Huawei’s Balong 5000 modem’s maximum download speed of 6.5 Gbps. Obviously, the new Snapdragon chipset will potentially evolve the technology further and will help in attaining the pure 5G technology.
Even though, the new X55 5G chipset will improve the 4G and 3G connectivity. It supports Category 22 LTE that can reach 2.5 Gbps speeds on 4G LTE networks. It also has the capability to of sharing 4G and 5G bands under dynamic spectrum.
