Redmi – the newly formed sub-brand of Xiaomi is readying to launch the K-Series device in China on 28th May. The upcoming K-Series devices from the Redmi are dubbed as K20 and K20 Pro. So far we expected both to come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, but it is not the case though. The lower end model, the K20 is a mid-ranger with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 at its heart.
Might be a bummer for some, the report is indeed true as revealed by a new leaked poster of the non-Pro version of the Redmi K20. Well, no confusion is to be made in the Redmi K20 Pro case – it definitely rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 as confirmed by the official teaser lately.
It’s pertinent to mention here that the Snapdragon 730 which is now confirmed to power the Redmi K20 isn’t bad at all. In fact, it’s the most powerful mid-range SoC till date along with the Snapdragon 730G seen on the recent Galaxy A80.
For the unversed, the chipset was announced by Qualcomm in April alongside the Snapdragon 665 and Snapdragon 730G. The Snapdragon 730 is an octa-core chipset based on Samsung’s 8nm process with a 2+6 Kryo 460 core arrangement. Coupled with Adreno 618 GPU, the SD 730 is a beast at its segment.
Coming to other key specs of the Redmi K20, we know that the device will have a triple camera setup with 48MP IMX586 as the main sensor. Earlier, a teaser revealed 3.5mm jack and Hi-Res support for the device. The optical in-display fingerprint is up as well. All in all, the Redmi K20 should be a complete package just like the Redmi K20 Pro but with a slightly lower price tag.
