Rumor: Google Pixel 2 XL to go bezel-less but Pixel 2 might not

Smartphone manufactures are now very keen to provide a nearly 100 percent display-to-body ratio devices. Already, Samsung through its infinity display devices and Xiaomi’s Mi Mix series smartphones acquainted us with what we call the bezel-less displays. How can we forget about the Essential Phone, which is now available. Also, Apple is expected to bring its upcoming iPhone 8 flaunting a bezel-less AMOLED display.

Now it seems, Google is also in the race of bezel-less devices. Latest rumor hints a possible adoption of bezel-less display in Google Pixel 2 XL, which set to launch on October 5.

Specs of Pixel 2 and XL 2

Unfortunately, the successor of Pixel, Pixel 2 would go with the traditional design, unlike the Pixel 2 XL. The both smartphones are expected to debut with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 Mobile Platform chipset. It is currently boarded by no other smartphones in the market.

Coming back to the design architecture of 2017 Pixel line-up. The difference in the design of both brothers is due to the difference in their manufacturers. This year Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC whereas the Pixel 2 XL by LG. Indirectly, proving LG’s superiority to HTC in terms of display technology.

Courtesy to previous leaks and rumors, Pixel 2 XL caters a 5.99-inch 1440p OLED display which will have a taller, Ultra-thin bezel screen. Its smaller variant, the Pixel 2 is expected to feature a 4.97-inch 1080p display with a lesser 1080p resolution framed under normal sized bezel.

Pixel 2/XL will be the first smartphone to run Android Oreo on-board. Once released, it would compete with the recently released Galaxy Note 8 and the upcoming iPhone 8 in the flagship segment.
