First of all, to all Galaxy S7/S7 Edge users please don’t be irked and wait a little more. The same advice goes to the A7 (2017) users as well. That said, Samsung is back in its business of Android Oreo roll-out and this time with another mid-ranger from the A-Series itself. After seeding the much anticipated Android Oreo update to Galaxy A5 (2017) couple of days ago, the update is now reaching its smaller sibling – the Galaxy A3 (2017).
The OTA update, that brings the Samsung Experience 9.0 based on Android Oreo is hitting the A3 (2017) in Russia. Yes, the same region where the first Android Oreo update for A5 (2017) had arrived. It’s not much surprising as Russia is one among the countries where new Samsung firmwares are initially tested and approved. On the other hand, major roll-outs take a little(or sometimes considerable) time to reach other pilot regions such as Turkey.
With baseband version A320FXXU3CRD4 the major update package does include the latest April 2018 security patch. Most importantly, all the bells and whistles of the Android Oreo, along with Samsung’s own other customized features. But, you can’t expect all the features that you could see on the Samsung flagships, since Samsung used to cut-down the features in mid/low-end device firmwares.
Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) users can start the usual drill of manual checking for the update, if automatic push-notification hasn’t arrived yet. For that, hail towards the Settings » Software update menu.
