Samsung Announces 20nm 4Gb LPDDR3 Mobile DRAM; Production Starts

Samsung has once again developed something better which will increase ocerall performance of Mobile device in coming years or we can even say months. Samsung has announced 20nm 4Gb LPDDR3 Mobile DRAM which will bring the performance levels of mobile devices closer to the standard DRAM found in computers.

Samsung has started production of this new LPDDR3 DRAM. Well coming onto what LPDDR3 is and what it will improve? Its modules will be based on the 20nm process and will be considered ultra-high-speed 4-gigabit, as these DRAMs will be able to transfer data at up to 2133 megabits per second, per pin.

Young-Hun-Jun, Executive Vice President, Memory Sales And Marketing, Samsung Electronics said, “By providing the most efficient next-generation mobile memory with a very large data capacity, we are now enabling OEMs to introduce even more innovative designs in the marketplace.”

It will also solve processing problem on HD display of 5 inches or more. In comparison to 20nm-class LPDDR3 mobile DRAM’s older version it will improve 30 percent of performance and 20 percent savings in power consumption.
