After Nvidia, Qualcomm now its turn for Samsung as they announced Exynos 5 Octa which have 8 cores at its CES Keynote on January 9th.

Exynos 5 Octa is high-performance power-efficient big.LITTLE ARM-based SoC. The processor design switches between two clusters of four cores each: ARM Cortex 1.8GHz A15 for performance, and Cortex 1.2GHz A7 for common workloads. Samsung claiming two times the performance in tests with 3D gaming compared to anything else on the market.

The device is a multi-tasking beast, able to do web searches with near-instant results, stutter-less HD playback, and operate multiple apps all at once with no lag. The Exynos 5 Octa uses 28nm processes, though Samsung said it will reduce its chips to 10nm processes in the coming years.

Samsung claims it’s the fastest and most energy-efficient mobile processor in the world, boasting a 70 percent increase in battery life.
