Samsung Galaxy J8 to hit Indian market on June 28

Yesterday onwards, Samsung India has been teasing the launch of recently unveiled Galaxy J8 through its Twitter handle. Accordingly, the new J-Series will go on sale starting from 28th June in India. As revealed earlier, the device will be available for a price tag of ₹18,990 in various retail outlets as well as on the Samsung India Online shop.

Although, the Galaxy J8 was released with much haste in India along with the Galaxy J6, Galaxy A6 and A6+, the device wasn’t made available for purchase then. But, that’s gonna change in few days as the device is all set to hit the intensely competitive Indian smartphone market.

Samsung Galaxy J8 Specs

Let us have a quick overview of the Galaxy J8 and its peculiarities that can impart threat to other devices in this segment. The Galaxy J8 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Mobile Platform with a primary clock speed of of 1.8GHz. After a long period of abstinence, Samsung is finally integrating a Snapdragon SoC on its mainstream J devices. Note that, for past few years Samsung has opted in-house Exynos(mostly 7870) chipset for its main J-devices.

Apart from the Mobile Platform, the major highlight of the Galaxy J8 is its dual-camera setup. On the back portion, it boasts a 16MP wide-angle sensor and a 5MP telephoto sensor for depth-of-field effects. While on the front resides a 16MP camera with an aperture of f/1.9. Both front and rear cameras are accompanied bh a single LED flash.

BackGroundBlurShape and Portrait Dolly features!

Samsung India is leaving no stones unturned to promote the camera set-up. Courtesy to the Twitter promos, it seems, the Galaxy J8 camera app has got some neat software tricks up its sleeve. The so called – “BackGroundBlur Shape” and “Portrait Dolly” feature backed by Samsung’s proprietary Live Focus feature can make the Portrait shots even more lively and fun-filled.

In general, the Galaxy J8 carries 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB). Biometric authentication includes Facial Recognition and Fingerprint scanner situated at the backside. The potential buyers can choose from three available shades of the device – Blue, Black and Gold.
