Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo starts receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

It has been over a week when Google released the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo. While most of the flagship devices will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo shortly, there are other handsets which are yet to taste Android Nougat. Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo is one such device that has now started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update. The smartphone released as a spin-off variant of Galaxy S5 almost two years ago, is receiving the update with firmware version G903WVLU1CQH4.

This would be the last major update for the device as it was released back in 2015 and already hit its two-year support window for major Android platform updates. The Galaxy S5 Neo was released with a couple of variants, model number G903W for Canada while model number G903F for the European version.

The current update is being rolled out to devices with model number G903W. While we expect the other version to be updated to Android 7.0 shortly, there is no official statement from the company as of this writing.

Samsung has started rolling out the update over-the-air (OTA) in different phases. Therefore, we would suggest you to wait for the update notification to appear on your device.

However, if you don’t see the update arriving in the next few days, you can always check the update manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.
