Sony updates Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra, and XA1 Plus to Android 8.0 Oreo

Sony unveiled the Xperia XA1 and the XA1 Ultra at MWC – Mobile World Congress 2017 with Android Nougat on board. A few months later at IFA 2017, they introduced a new member to the Xperia XA1 family in the form of XA1 Plus. And now, all these three devices are receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update with February Security patch.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update which is being rolled out to the XA1 trio comes with a build number 48.1.A.0.116. And though we are half past March, the build features the February 5 security patch. As for new features are concerned, the update brings all the goodness of Android Oreo to the Xperia XA family. Such as notification channels, PIP(Picture in Picture) mode, notification dots, adaptive icons, new emojis, System UI tuner, autofill, smart text selection, Google Play Protect, better battery life and other performance improvements.

As this is an OTA update, it will be rolling out slowly to all the regions. Therefore, don’t worry if you didn’t receive the notification of the update yet. However, you can manually check for update from the About phone section in the Settings of your phone.
