Spice Android One Dream Smartphone Gets Listed Before Release

Back in June at the Google I/O keynote event, Google unveiled the Android One program that is aimed at bringing the latest version of Android and the latest updates first to cheap smartphones under $100. Google had teamed up with three Indian smartphone manufacturing companies, namely Micromax, Karbonn and Spice to bring the Android One program to India. The first Android One smartphone manufactured by Spice is scheduled for a launch in India tomorrow but like most upcoming smartphones, this one too has landed in the rumor mill getting its specs and price unveiled.

Online retailer Flipkart, which will be the exclusive retailer of the smartphone in India listed the device on its website before its official release. The device was soon removed from the website but we managed to get a screenshot of the device liste and its screenshot.

The device named Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-948 boasts of a 4.5″ FWGA display along with a 5 MP rear snapper with an LED flash and a 2 MP camera unit on the front. Under the hood lies a MediaTek SoC along with a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3 GHz and an Mali 400 GPU. 1 GB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory storage will be present on the device. The storage memory will be expandable via a microSD card. The device will run on Android 4.4.4 as promised by Google and will be powered by a 1,700 mAh powerhouse.
