The U.S. based service provider, T-Mobile is now pushing new maintenance updates for its carrier-branded Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+ and Galaxy J7. The OTA updates carry the build numbers G920TUVU5FQK1 G925TUVU5FQK1, G928TUVU4EQJ3 and J700TUVU3BQK3 respectively. Most notably, brings the much needed Blueborne and KRACK Wi-fi exploit fixes to the devices.
According to the changelog of updates provided at the T-Mobile support page, “Various improvements and Security updates” are reaching the S6/S6 Edge and Galaxy J7 collectively. However, there is a slight anomaly in security patch for the devices. Because, while the S6/S6 Edge managed to get the latest November patch level, the Galaxy J7 still lies on SMR dated 1st August 2017. Keep in mind that, the latest update marks the first minor one after the J7 was blessed with Nougat 7.1.1 earlier.
Galaxy S6 Edge+ OTA Update
It’ll be worth mentioning Galaxy S6 Edge+ update separately. As it’s quite different from the above devices. Apart from the Blueborne and KRACK fixes, the S6 Edge+ attains October security patch level by this firmware update. Also, following changelogs are provided on concerned T-Mobile page.
- IMS Roaming fix
- DIGITS bug fix
- Google security improvements
It seems, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ OTA update is live since November 9 itself. So, by now it’d have reached all the T-Mobile S6 Edge+. Whereas, the update for Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and Galaxy J7 has started rolling-out from the 22nd November. Nevertheless, if you’vent updated any of the above devices to latest software yet. You can do it now, by moving on to Settings>>Software Update>>Check For updates sections to trigger the update manually.
