And the Tegra K1 has a 192 core GPU, and you also might remeber that the Tegra 4 has 72-core ULP GeForce GPU which was very impressive, but this time they turned it straight up to 192 GHz, and also a Kepler architecture which is specially used in the desktop GPU. This chip is definitely faster than the Tegra 4, and also NVIDIA claim that this chip is three times as fast as Apple A7. And also faster than the previous gaming consoles like the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and also this chip offers the same graphics as the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Coming to the CPU, it will have two versions, one the 32-bit, quad-core Cortex A15 clocked up to 2.3GHz, and the other is the 64-bit, dual-core Denver CPU which is a custom designed CPU and is based on the ARM V8 64-bit and has a clock speed of about 2.5GHz.

Also NVIDIA announced a variant of the Tegra K1, known as the Tegra K1 VCM ( Visual Computing Module). This has been designed keeping in mind tomorrow’s automobiles. As there are already several vehicles that use modern processors, like the Tesla Model S have it’s own in-car system based on Tegra chips. And this version will make these kind of systems even faster and hence building a firm base for the future cars.

The Tegra K1 will be made available this year, along with Cortex A15 variant in the first half of the year, while the Denver variant will be out in the second half of the year. Catch more news from CES 2014 here
