LG V30 is official: It is a strong competitor to Galaxy Note 8

The exquisite LG V30 has just launched at IFA 2017 and it represents a drastic shift in LG’s flagship strategy. The LG G6 signaled the beginning of that shift. We’d say LG is now one of the serious contenders that can displace the Galaxy Note 8 if LG takes care of pricing. So, what is all the hot talk around the device today that has dominated IFA’s first day? let’s take a look.

The LG V30 is a multimedia device for consumers as well as for creators. The 6-inch OLED Quad HD FullVision display ensures Samsung won’t have the bragging rights for its Infinity Display. Also, the 3D glass at the edges gives it a very subtle curve. The display is Daydream compatible and has Mobile HDR10. The rear camera of the phone is special.

It has a 16 MP lens with f/1.6 aperture and IOS which is backed by a ton of manual controls that will excite pro photographers. The other sensor comes with 13 MP density and f/1.9 aperture. LG has shrunk the lenses to half its size on the V20. The strong hardware is backed by software enhancements like slow zoom, Cine Effect, Cine Log and many more tools. However, the UI can be confusing unless you are a pro media creator.

The LG V30 is powered by the flagship-grade Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB (LG V30+) storage. It runs Android Nougat 7.1.2 pre-installed. Buyers can expect Android Oreo by the end of the year or next year as said by LG. Apart from that, the device has Hi-Fi Quad DAC with preset controls to delight audiophiles. The phone will also come with B&O Play branded speakers. The build quality is the same as LG G6 except that it has glass on the back.

We don’t know much about the price right now but the phone will be available in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Cloud Silver, and Lavender Violet hues. Korea will be the first to get the phone on September 21 followed by North America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
