Google just released OTA files for Pixel and Nexus devices not on the beta program on its blog. Earlier, the OTA updates were rolling out for those on beta builds. Now, Verizon is also updating Pixel devices via OTA. Moreover, since the documentation is out also, the OTA must be seeding right now. However, it should take some time before the update shows up on all devices
Both Pixel and Pixel XL builds will receive the OTA after which the version number of their build will be changed to OPR6.170623.012. The update also has the August Security patch. Android Oreo has mouth-watering features like Picture-in-Picture, Notification Channels, Notification Dots, changed Settings menu and many other great tweaks under the surface.
It is a bit of a surprise to see Verizon acting so fast to bring Android Oreo to its Pixel devices. When the Google Pixel duo weren’t for sale on Verizon, many still opted to buy it straight from Google fearing updates will be delayed by the carrier, but that has not been the case so far.
