WhatsApp has finally started rolling out the long-awaiting ‘WhatsApp Payment’ feature in the Indian market. If you’re among the selective users, this feature would be already available for you as of this writing. If not, just be patient as it is likely to reach all users in the coming weeks. This feature is part of the latest WhatsApp version 2.18.113.
If you’re on the latest WhatsApp version (as specified above), you can start using the ‘WhatsApp Payment’ after accepting the WhatsApp’s terms and conditions. You will need to verify your phone number and select your bank prior to using the feature.
WhatsApp has a strong user base in the country with over 200 million active users. Rolling out the ‘WhatsApp Payment’ feature will prove to be a game changer for Facebook owned messaging app. This feature is expected to truly unlock the future potential of digital payments in India.
