Whatsapp has released a new beta update on Google Play Store beta Channel bringing the version to 2.18.132. Those who’re enrolled for the Whatsapp beta programme on Google Play Store might have already seen the app update notification. So what does the new update bring to the table? In fact, it’s nothing but a new “Restrict Group Feature” that provides the admins better control over the group.
Whatsapp has been over the time improving the group experience on its popular instant messenger cum now a payment service. Earlier, it totted the Group Description feature as in Telegram which allowed the members of the group to add a topic/description of the current interest. Within the new release, Whatsapp is giving the admins more power to choose who all can change/modify the Group Description.
This restrict action can be accessed or managed in the Admin Settings, a new option located in Group Info that’s visible to the administrator only. In Admin Settings, the administrator can restrict who can change or modify the group info.
If the restict feature is once enabled by an admin, then the blacklisted group of non-admins/members will not be able to modify the group description.
As earlier mentioned, you need to be on the latest Whatsapp Beta 2.18.132 in order to see the option on the groups that you’re an admin.
