Xiaomi holding an event on 7th June in India, Redmi S2 Expected!

Currently, Xiaomi is busy in maintaining the stocks of Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi TV for the Indian market but doesn’t mean they are not active. As revealed on the Redmi India official Twitter handle Xiaomi is going to launch its new smartphone in India and this time it is for the Selfie lovers. They are calling it the best selfie smartphone, however, the launch date is confirmed so let’s check out some in-depth details about it.

In case you forgot last week Xiaomi has presented its Redmi S2 in the Chinese market and being a budget-oriented smartphone it looks like Xiaomi will be bringing it to India. They are showing off the device with a tagline “The RealYou Smartphone is Coming”. It looks like similar to Mi A1 Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi S2 in India under a different moniker i-e Redmi Y2. A few hours back Xiaomi’s Global Vice President Manu Kumar Jain has also tipped the device by showing the selfie clicked using that specific device.

Specifications of the Redmi Y2 will be exactly identical to that of the Redmi S2, so let’s take a look at the specs of the device. It will be a Dual-SIM handset and will come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625(64 bit) Octa-Core processor. The device will be made available in two variants: 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM. Fortunately, both variants are compatible with the expandable storage via micro SD-card. In the front, there is a 5.99(inch) HD+ IPS Display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.

Redmi S2/Y2 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. In terms of Camera department it houses a Dual 12MP+5MP rear snappers with LED Flash, Aperture f/2.2, PDAF whereas in the front, a 16MP shooter with an LED Flash is given for selfies. As additional features, it has Fingerprint Scanner, Face Recognition, IR blaster, etc. The device gets juice from a 3080mAh battery. The device will be made available in a number of colors including Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver for a price tag of around ($156, 11000 INR) for the basic variant while for the 4GB RAM variant one has to pay ($204, 13000 INR). The event has been scheduled on 7th of June and will take place in New Delhi.
