Xiaomi phones to soon get an app drawer

Since the beginning, Xiaomi’s MIUI interface has lacked an app drawer. Thankfully, it will be no longer the case as the latest alpha version of the MIUI launcher adds app drawer functionality.

The MIUI skin by Xiaomi has never included an app drawer, however, MIUI for POCO (POCO F1) comes with POCO launcher by default, which features an app drawer. Also, this launcher is available on the Play Store unlike the MIUI launcher and can be installed on any Android smartphone. Further, it also includes features like display apps by category or colour of the icon, support for third-party icon packs, customise icon size, light and dark themes, double-tap to sleep, and more.

Anyways, you might be wondering why we are listing the features of POCO launcher and that is because the latest alpha version of MIUI launcher includes all of them. That means you do not need to install POCO launcher or any other popular third-party launcher like Nova or Action to use app drawer on your Xiaomi smartphone going forward. But by default, the app drawer is disabled and needs to be enabled from the launcher’s settings.

Having said that, the app drawer functionality already made its debut in MIUI China builds last year. Unfortunately, it is taking Xiaomi months to add this feature to MIUI global builds. We are not sure when the company will be rolling it out to all its users. Until then, you can download and install the latest alpha version of the MIUI launcher from the link provided at the end of this post. Do note that it will only work on Xiaomi phones running MIUI unlike the POCO launcher which can be installed on any device from the Play Store
