Xiaomi to roll out MIUI 9 update for Indian users on November 2nd

The long waited MIUI 9 update is finally here for Indian users. MIUI 9 which is nougat based, comes with cool new features as well. It has been quite a time now, it’s beta updates were available to the china users a long time ago, users in India could also use the same update but nothing was official, until Xiaomi tweeted about its MIUI 9 official roll out for Indian users.

MIUI 9 Update features

Xiaomi has optimised the system to enable faster app loading and boost performance. Xiaomi has finally worked on its issues of poor RAM management. Which is why the company has come up with the hashtag, #LightningFast. Other features include faster app load times, new design elements, lock-screen shortcuts, split-screen feature(basically a nougat feature), and more.

The tweet also had a teaser image and said, “I’m not a Note” confirming that the upcoming Xiaomi device will not belong to Mi Note-series, or even the Redmi Note series. Other taglines were “I’m not a book” and “I’m a new series.” The company is focussing on the selfies saying “best selfies”.

Xiaomi sent out similar launch invites, teasing a ‘new series’, and then revealed the Mi A1 – the first smartphone in an all-new Android One range, which is made in collaboration with Google.

Supported devices may be:

As far as which devices will get the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM, this is what the list will look like, and the list may increase:

  • Mi Mix
  • Mi Mix 2
  • Mi 5/4/4i/3
  • Mi Max 2
  • Mi Max/Prime
  • Redmi Note 4/3/Prime
  • Redmi 4/4A
  • Redmi 3S/Prime/Plus
  • Redmi 2/Prime

It’s quite impressive to see devices like the Redmi 2, which was released in 2015. It’s even more impressive to see the Mi 3 in that list, since the phone was released in 2013. The only other company that has supported a device from 2013 is Apple.

So kudos to Xiaomi for bringing the latest to older devices, and to the question Xiaomi asked whether we are excited or not, hell yeah we are excited!
