Android Oreo now rolling out to HTC U11 in the US

HTC already rolled out the Android Oreo update for the U11 in their home country Taiwan. Following that, this past Friday HTC’s VP Mo Versi tweeted that the unlocked version of the U11 will receive the update today. And now the update is already live in the United States.

In case you do not know, Android Oreo brings many improvements and new features. The most notable ones are Picture in Picture mode, Project Treble, Adaptive icons, Notification channels, new Notification shade, better RAM as well as battery management, Android Instant apps and much more. As of November, Oreo is on 0.3% of all the Android smartphones.

Anyways, if the update hits your unlocked HTC U11, make sure to have enough battery and storage space before downloading it. Also, as the updates are rolled out via OTA, it might take time to reach your device. Hence, be patient and check for updates regularly in the About phone section of your phone.

Some other OEMs have also updated their phone to Android in the past few weeks. The list includes Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ/XZs, OnePlus 3/3T and Nokia 8. But, Samsung which is the top Android manufacturer, still did not update their flagship to Android Oreo. However, beta tests are going on for the Galaxy S8.
