Download Microsoft Edge Browser for Android, it’s now out of beta

Last month, Microsoft introduced their Edge browser both to Android and iOS. First as a preview app, then as a beta version. And now, after a month the app is out of beta. Thus, every user can now download it unlike previous versions for which one had to register for.

The Microsoft Edge browser for Android has the same interface like its PC version. The features included are Reading list, Reading view, New Tab page which shows recent news from MSN including the search bar at the top, QR scanner and the best one is ‘Continue on PC’. This feature enables users to continue their browsing in PC from where they left in their phone. The browser uses Chrome’s Blink engine instead of EdgeHTML and sadly there’s no support for extensions.

If you are interested in trying this new app from Microsoft, just head over to the Play Store and install it from there. Though the app name says Preview or Insider Preview in some regions, it is a stable one. The current version of the app is 1.0.0.1267.

Microsoft seems to be not interested in developing new version of their Windows Mobile OS due to their low and declining market share. Even, they didn’t announce any new Microsoft branded Windows smartphone this year.

But, they are bringing their Windows ecosystem apps to Android as well as iOS as the smartphone OS market is dominated by them. Also, they partnered with Samsung for special Microsoft Edition Galaxy S8 / S8+ with a whole bunch of Microsoft apps.
