Huawei’s own chipset manufacturing company HiSilicon recently unveiled the high end Kirin 960 chipset at an event. The Kirin 960 chipset is now the best performing chipset if HiSilicon is to be believed. Huawei Mate 9 is also due soon so could we see this hell of a chipset featuring on the new Huawei device? We’ll know that later but let’s check out some of the features of the Kirin 960 first.
Built on a 16nm FinFET process like the 955 but with newer parts, the 960 promises a 15% performance boost. You also have 4 Cortex-A73 cores paired with 4 Cortex-A53 cores. Not only that, you can also be assured of better battery optimizations.
Kirin 960 will also be the first chipset to use ARM’s Bifrost GPU which is the Mali-G71. The G71 promises reduced power consumption as well as better performance as compared to the T880, which is quite popular. Overall, the Kirin 960 will perform 180% percent better and will be 20% more power efficient, HiSilicon claims.
