Releasing last fall, Samsung Galaxy S4’s international variant with the model number Samsung GT-I9506 finally gets its firmware update to Android 4.4 Kitkat. Though the update is currently available only in a couple of countries around the world, we’re expecting it to roll out soon for rest of the world too.
The I9506 boasts of Snapdragon 800 chipset as compared to Snapdragon 600 on the ‘vanilla’ S4. It also dons the Cat.4 LTE, which let the download speeds reach upto 150 mbps.
The Kitkat update is only available to Galaxy S4 users in Norway, Sweden and Finland and carries the firmware no. I9506XXUCNG3. The update is now available over-the-air for you to download if you live in any of these countries.
This firmware update to the I9506 took quite some time if you look at it as the ‘vanilla’ S4 got is Android Kitkat update months ago and the Korean S4 LTE-A, which sports the same Snapdragon 800 chipset as the I9506 got its Android Kitkat update way back in February. This leaves us wondering what took Samsung so long to roll out the updates fir this one.
