In late March this year, Reliance Jio Industries Ltd or popularly known as Jio acquired Saavn Music to bolster its music streaming service. Since then, we’re expecting the merger of Jio’s proprietary free and media-rich streaming app – JioMusic with the Saavn soon. Now, in the light of acquisition, the JioMusic app for Android has been rebranded as JioSaavn Music.
If you’re a user of JioMusic on Android, you might’ve received an update notification from Google Play Store to update the app. Once updated, your favorite JioMusic will be seen rebranded as JioSaavn with much overhaul in the design and contents.
Unfortunately, Jio seems to slowly switch its completely free Jio app bundle services to the freemium platform. As its result, for availing the full potential of JioSaavn Music you need to have access to a premium membership, unlike the JioMusic which is completely free for Jio users. Nonetheless, JioSaavn is offering 90 days of free-trial premium subscription for the Jio users.

With that, the original JioMusic is kicked out of the Google Play Store as JioSaavn replaces it. However, the original Saavn Music app is available as a standalone app on Google Play Store.
Interestingly, the opposite has happened elsewhere in the world of iOS App Store. There, Saavn Music is getting rebranded as JioSaavn, while the JioMusic is in its original form available for download in the App Store.
